First Dentist Appointment!

So Loralai had her very first dentist appointment on Thursday September 1st at 2pm; and man oh man, I have to say that she was amazing beyond my wildest expectations. The hygienist Crystal was also fantastic with Loralai! She gave her sunglasses to protect her eyes from the brightness of the light, Crystal let Loralai try out each tool before she used it in her mouth, she asked her questions, and let her know what she was going to do next!

So the dentist Dr. Lea came by after Crystal had finished cleaning her teeth. Dr. Lea counted her teeth and just took a general look around at everything. Loralai's teeth are great, but we did find out that she has a slight tongue tie. The dentist asked if she had any pronunciation problems or a lisp, and she does not at all...so he said that because it is slight, to just keep an eye on it, but that it will likely not result in anything.

Here is a little video of the appointment...enjoy!

30 second (girly, unconventional) superhero cape!

Loralai had asked me to make her a superhero cape, so we went to the sewing/craft room to see what we could dig up. Now you know the attention span of a 3 year old is limited, so I knew that I did not have time to whip up a template and sew one together, so my brain started turning. I am sure this has been done before, but I honestly follow a lot of craft diy blogs, and I have not seen it myself yet.

Instructions: I took a pretty pillowcase, and some self adhesive Velcro, and in about 30 seconds, Loralai was off protecting the city! :)

So I know that it the pattern is a little unconventional for a superhero cape, but it sure is cute! Plus (at least) for now, Loralai does not care very much about the fact that it is not a traditional superhero cape. But then again maybe she can be the superhero of uniqueness, while also saving the world of course!

Singing Sunday!

So I know that I have missed two Fridays of blogging! Honestly, I have great intentions, and then life sort of  sneaks up and gets in the way. But anyway, here is what we have been up to:

On August 22nd, Great Grandma Eva turned 98; she is exactly 70 years and 2 days older then me, which if you haven't yet made the quick calculation, I was 28 on August 24th. I am so excited that Loralai has been able to create a relationship with her Great Grandma, I mean how many people have grandma's or great grandma's 98 years old and still kicking strong? We are certainly lucky :)

Happy 98th Birthday Grandma! We love you!

Now why this post is called singing Sunday is because Loralai likes to go down to Daddy's studio, and pretend she is recording songs! We are eventually going to record her and make her own little CD, but we will do that when she finally signs songs the whole way through, without getting distracted or bored with her song selection :)

So daughter like father, Loralai loves to go into the basement with Daddy and pretend to record a song, and help Daddy mix! It is adorable :)

Our busy fun week!

So we had such a fun Mommy and Loralai week, as Daddy was either working or taking some training courses during the evening this week. So we took advantage of the girl time by going to the beach, Wonderland, and to the cottage with some good friends.

On Tuesday, we met up with our friends Maggie and Drake at a local beach that had a great park. We ended up spending several hours together, and the kids had so much fun, and we had some great Mommy time too! :) I think the highlight of the evening was when we went to feed a family of ducks, as always the seagulls engulfed us within 5 minutes, so when we went back to the blanket, the family of ducks came running full speed towards us, and honestly I wish I had a video camera, it was so funny to watch 6 baby ducks and there mom and dad waddling full speed towards us. Here are a few pictures that I took with my phone of the kids just enjoying the weather, and each others company.

On Thursday we decided to meet up with my manager and her daughter Chloe who is also three. They go to Wonderland every Thursday, and we have seasons passes, so I decided that it makes sense and would be so much fun to allow the girls to develop their friendship. We ended up closing down Wonderland, we stayed there until 10pm, so it was way passed Loralai's bedtime, but so worth it, both girls had such a great time.  Here is the picture of them enjoying their sugar filled lollipops! :)

Then last night Loralai and I went up to our friends Maggie and Drake's family cottage. We went kayaking, swimming, danced, ate, and just overall had such a fun evening. Then this morning we got up made French toast, went swimming and kayaking again, and then Loralai and I headed back home to see Daddy, since we had not seen him for most of the week. Again, I forgot to bring my camera :( honestly I packed it up, but left it on the mantel err...so I did not take any pictures other than this one this morning with my phone. It was so beautiful and calming to be up at the cottage, it was just what Mommy needed.

Hope your week was just as fun too!

It is posting day!

So I know that it is posting day, but I am feverishly trying to pack up to go to the cottage for the night.

We did a few fun things this week like going to the beach with Drake, and to wonderland with Chloe. I will post about everything when we get back sometime tomorrow.

Enjoy your evenings everyone! :)

Celebrating Life

So today we celebrated a life that was lost, my Uncle Bill's mother past away and today was the funeral. I decided that I was going to take Loralai with me, as she gets older and starts to understand, I will likely be more reluctant, but for now, I feel that a child being present can actually help bring a little brightness to sad day. Loralai I have to say was amazing! She stayed quiet through the service, I did save a sweet treat and gave it to her just before the service began which helped, but honestly I really think that she would have been quiet through it anyway, and if you think approx. 30 minutes for a 3 year old is a very long time. I was very proud of her!

I did take the opportunity since we were dressed up anyway to take some pictures of Loralai before we left, and I think that they came out so beautiful! :)

The picture of the left has been enlarged to an 8x10, framed, and hung on our shelf in the living room already! p.s. Did you take notice of my brand new porch chair? Regular $150 from Pier One Imports, and I got it for 70% off that price, what a steal for a beautiful chair I think!

Summer Update!

Hello Everyone! I haven't blogged in a very very long time; partly because we have been out enjoying the beautiful weather, partly because I have been working a lot, partly because my computer drives me crazy and I need to upgrade, and the rest is because well I have been lazy after doing all of the above! ;)

Well I wanted and needed, to pop in and provide an update of our summer so far, mostly for memory preserving of my own, but also for my family and friends who follow my blog and have decided to now boycott me until I post! lol. I have decided that I need to actually schedule blogging into my week to make sure that I stay on top of documenting our lives, and therefore the memories we are making,  so drum roll please (dun dun dun)...Friday evenings is when I will blog about our adventures of the week! If I end up blogging more than on Friday's it will be a welcomed bonus for me!

What fun things have we done you ask? well....

We have also been going swimming (lots), to parks, gardening, bike riding, to festivals (Kempenfest, Promenade, Canada Day),  to Paramount Canada's Wonderland (lots), going to the beach, recovering from a bad case of poison ivy (me), etc etc etc. Phew! lol. We have just been enjoying the warm weather while we can! My problem is that I have so many pictures on my Blackberry, I really need to be more vigilant and actually take my camera with me! The camera on my phone takes good pictures as long as they are small, once enlarged they become too pixely.

What we still plan on enjoying this summer:
Alliston Potato Festival
Camping in the backyard
Celebrating my 28th birthday, & Loralai Great Grandma's 98th!!!
Camping in the backyard
Possibly a blog facelift?!

So stay tuned! :)

A day to celebrate how important Daddy's are in our life!

Daddy and Loralai. This picture was taken on Todd's phone so the quality is not the greatest, but how cute is Loralai's smile?

What a great weekend :)

Happy 3rd Birthday!

Introducing....Loralai the 3 year old!!

We celebrated Loralai's 3rd Birthday Yesterday and it went without a hitch!
We decided to hold her birthday from 11am-2pm, and I think that was just perfect timing for us. We served lunch, played games, opened presents, and ate cake, then there was still enough time to clean up and enjoy the rest of the day relaxing while Loralai played with all of her new gifts.
Unfortunately Loralai's 3 good friends from daycare were not able to make it, but her long time friend Drake was present and they had SO much fun together. Other than a pool, bubbles, and a pinata, I did not really have a whole lot of activities planned for the two of them to do, but they are just 3 of course, and having too much structured play/activities planned likely would have not have worked out as well, I will save that for next year!

It was a gorgeous day and our ice cream theme was just delicious! I wish I had taken more pictures of the details, but of course hosting a party is busy! The pictures below give a glimpse of our fun...enjoy!

Delicious cake by Loralai's Godmother Carrie.

Loralai blowing our her candles again for the photo op! :)

Still cannot believe Loralai is 3, time has just flown by. But I cannot wait to see what this year brings!

Loralai's 3rd Birthday Invitation

I cannot believe that Loralai is going to be 3 in just over a week. I mean she very much looks and acts like a 3 year old, and she is so tall that when I tell people she is two, they look at me funny. I have resorted to saying that she will be 3 in (so many) days.

Well I gave you a sneak peek before, but here is Loralai's 3rd Birthday Party invitation!

I am so excited for her party! :)
